Well typically we celebrate the third Monday in February as the birthday of George Washington....most people either forget or never knew that George Washington was actually born on February llth, in 1732 when the nation used the Julian Calendar. In 1752 the Colonies decided to change and use the Gregorian Calendar thus making the birthday of our Founding President February 22nd.
Well...whenever his birthday is....Happy Birthday George!
Wikipedia tells us that the longest running and largest celebration of our first President's birthday is held in Laredo Texas each year....surprising...I would have thought that it might be in Mount Vernon or even New York where Washington was headquarter during the War of Independence. Interesting....love factoids and history!
